Chase The Lion: Day Four

Hello Darlings,

This weeks devo has probably been my favorite so far. Emphasizing Gods promise “What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open.” Mark states that you cannot take one half of the promise without the other, what a pill to swallow….

This verse resonates with me in such a nostalgic way, looking back on my life, I have never been more grateful for closed doors

When I left my small town in Michigan six years ago to move to San Diego, I stepped out on faith. With that being said, I had a vision but I didn't have a clear path, I had a plan but I didn't have a job. I struggled to find a steady job for 11 months. When I finally found one that I loved, I got fired after a short time. When that door closed, I was devastated:

“Why am I still in San Diego?”

“What am I supposed to do, I need that money.”

“Was I even supposed to leave Michigan in the first place?”

“Why is this so hard?”

I stared at that heavy solid door in my face, I realized that I was settling for the comfortability of the job position but I wasn't doing what God called me to do. Just like a baby eagle in the comfort of their nest, they must be pushed out to fly. God knew I was ready to fly, when all I could think about was how I was falling. When I understood where God was leading me, I let go and let God and He always delivers.

It’s a daily struggle for us, but we must choose to trust the process and let God lead.

“Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” Phil 2:1 -2

Chase The Lion: Day Two

Hello Darlings,

We’re entering day two of Chase the Lion, strong conviction set in when Mark makes the valid point that God does not say “well thought-out good and faithful servant” but He does say “well DONE good and faithful servant.” Being challenged to take your dreams and make them obedient to Christ. I must say I have never thought of it that way and was forced to think about it how this looks in my own life:

When God called me one step closer to my destiny I had to make a choice; Think or Do. I decided to Do something. It required me to walk off the ledge and trust that God would bring the ground beneath my feet, and did He deliver? more than I could ever ask for. It was scary, it was hard and I questioned a million times whether I had done the right thing, but every time I was ready to give up, God gave me confirmation that I was walking in His will for my life. He dropped bread crumbs to let me know that He was still leading my path and had not forgotten about me. But the first part of this whole process started with me, putting my faith in Christ alone, and not letting anyone… not even my family deter me from what I knew in my heart was the right thing to DO.

The truth is God can’t radically move in our lives unless we let Him. It’s something we always pray about and ask for but when rubber meets the road we shy away. This is what happens when we put more faith in what we see rather than putting our faith in what is unseen. We easily believe He created the heavens, the earth, and all the living things, but when it comes to believing in His destiny for us we easily make excuses as to why "it can't be".

Let's cast doubt aside and put our full faith in Christ, lets see what our God can truly do. He marvels at the chance to impress His children and bless us beyond comprehension, showing us the true purpose and meaning to this beautiful life.

INTRO: Chase The Lion - Mark Batterson

Hello Darlings,

I first want to say, thank you for visiting my devotional page! I want this to be a place of hope, encouragement and prayerfulness. To be frank, if there is one thing I’m truly passionate about it is my God. He has blessed me in countless ways and has shown amazing grace continuously in my life, there is nothing I’d rather do than to share His goodness with others.

This month we will be going through Chase The Lion by Mark Batterson, if you’d like to follow along you can find it on the YouVersion Bible App, a free download from the App Store. It’s a seven day devotion, but every Monday I will be covering one day (devotion) at a time.

Be sure to join us here every week, because as much as I love writing… I want to hear from you! I need encouragement as much as the next woman.

Please feel free to comment on these pages with questions or testimonies of things God has done in your life. I want to hear your feedback on the devotional content too!
