Chase The Lion: Day Six

E B E N E Z E R.

Nope, not scrooge. An altar made unto the Lord to celebrate what he had done and what he was going to do.

September 2011, I landed in San Diego. I didn't have a job, I didn't have a car, I didn't have friends and I didn't have family, but I did have God. Everything God had done lead up to that defining moment when my feet touched the sun-soaked pavement. The next 11 months I spent looking for a job that didn't seem to come. I was riddled with what had gone wrong while chasing a dream that I knew was given to me. I was ill with worry and frustration, I had so many doubts about being here I almost threw in the towel.

The God who did it before can do it again.
— Mark Batterson, Chase The Lion

I was so focused on what was right in front of me that I couldn't remember how faithful God had been to get me there. I knew what I wanted, and what I was chasing but I couldn't get there without appreciating how far I had come by God's grace. I felt as though getting what I needed in order to stay in San Diego was impossible, but it was just as "impossible" to get from Michigan to San Diego and God still did it. I needed to celebrate that, that should have been my focus all along.

When we celebrate Gods victories in our life and remember all the times God came through, it's a lot easier to have faith that He will continue to work for those who love him. It becomes harder for satan to whisper doubts in our ear if we put our foundation in Christ and take the time to reflect.

Think back to a moment when you knew God nudged your heart to do something, and now think about how it happened, when God made that moment a reality. God said, and God did, it's that simple. It always has been and it always will be, we just have to believe.

“Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” Phil 2:1 -2
