Let’s dive into day one of Chase the Lion devotional:
Mark starts the devotion by painting the picture of when the old testament warrior, Benaiah faces a lion in the snowy wilderness and defeats the lion in battle. Mark then parallels this scenario with our lives. He tells us that at some point we have to quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. How do we take on this challenge?
When I was 19 I was faced with my very first lion, funny enough it was a snowy Michigan night. In that moment I felt God tell me Change was coming… and that itself Change was my lion. I looked at Change and I didn't know how I was going to overcome the fear inside my bones when facing it, but like anything else when God allows Change to come, He also gives you the strength to overcome it. I knew on the other side of Change was Destiny, I couldn't stay where I was or Change would take Destiny from me. So I fought it, and killed Change in order to arrive at Destiny.
You see when I stopped letting fear be my motivation and started letting God, doors opened and my life began to unfold in ways that I couldn’t even dream up myself. I’m not saying it was easy but it was worth it.
I encourage you to let God be the motivation, lead you to your lion, and slay.
“Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” Phil 2:1 -2
